Game Notes

Ed Charles, our beloved Glider and Poet Laureate of the 1969 Mets passed away last night at the age of 84. Ed was one of the kindest and warmest people ever to be a Met. His essays and poems inspired his teammates to the improbable World Series championship. With Jackie Robinson as his role model, Ed perpetuated a legacy of making a positive impact on other people’s lives. A moment of silence for Charles will be held before today’s game vs. Baltimore.

Jason Vargas will start today in a minor league game vs. Washington’s Double-A and Triple-A squad. Jerry Blevins, AJ Ramos and Jeurys Familia are slated to appear in minor league games tomorrow. Zack Wheeler will start in a minor league game on Monday.

Michael Conforto is expected to get four at-bats in a minor league game today.

Former Met Josh Edgin is expected to pitch for the Orioles today, he has allowed one run in four innings this spring.
