New York had its four-game winning streak snapped yesterday. The Mets have won seven of their last nine. New York is 13-10 in its last 23 games. New York has won three straight series. The Mets are 19-19 on the road and have won five of their last six away from Citi Field.
The Mets are 3-7 in its last 10 series vs. Washington. New York is 11-10 at Nationals Park since 2015, including winning two of three earlier this year.

Steven Matz is 2-1 over four starts and 27.0 innings this year with a 2.67 ERA, 5.00 FIP and 1.074 WHIP.
His FIP continues to be quite high compared to previous years (3.61, 3.39) but his WHIP is low (1.234, 1.209). Matz will face the Nationals today after his best start of the season where he held Miami to six hits, a walk and no runs, over seven innings. When he faced the Nationals earlier this season, he allowed eight hits and zero walks over seven innings leading to four runs. The Nationals have the following numbers against him:

The Mets bats will get a look at Strasburg tonight who is 9-2 over 16 starts and 102 2/3 innings with a 3.51 ERA, 3.10 FIP and 1.101 WHIP.
His WHIP has been incredibly consistent over the last three season (1.107, 1.104, 1.101). June was a mixed bag for Strasburg. He allowed two earned runs or less in four of six starts (although one start was over 5 1/3 innings) and the two starts where he allowed more than five earned runs. Against the Mets this year he has allowed five earned runs over 12 1/3 innings. The Mets have the following numbers against him:

Steven Matz has worked six or more innings in nine straight starts dating to July 24, 2016, the longest streak of his career. In his only career start at National Park, Matz tossed eight shutout innings with seven strikeouts on May 25, 2016. He faced the Nats in his second start this year and allowed four runs over seven innings at Citi Field on June 16.
Stephen Strasburg is 8-4 with a 2.69 ERA (26 ER/87.0 IP) in 14 career starts vs. the Mets. He is 1-1 with a 3.65 ERA (5 ER/12.1 IP) in two starts vs. New York this season.
Asdrubal Cabrera has a .415 on-base percentage and a .351 (13-for-37) batting average with three doubles, two homers, four RBI and seven runs scored since returning from the Disabled List on June 23.
