News and Notes

A day after acquiring a pair of left-handed relievers in Jerry Blevins and Alex Torres, the Mets optioned prospect Dario Alvarez to minor league camp on Tuesday morning. Alvarez posted a 4.91 ERA in 10 Grapefruit League relief appearances.

While Vic Black is unlikely to break camp with the Mets and is DL bound, Daniel Murphy is still “touch and go” said Sandy Alderson on Monday. If Murphy can’t go, the Mets are leaning toward Daniel Muno over Matt Reynolds according to reporters.

Lucas Duda is on fire. A day after his three-hit game on Sunday, Duda blasted a three-run double and two-run homer on Monday. He has ten RBIs in his last seven games. “I feel good at the plate,” said Duda, who missed the first two weeks of games with a strained left intercostal muscle. “I feel like my timing’s getting back.”
