Niese has goine 18 consecutive starts allowing three earned runs or less which is the longest current streak in the majors. It is the sixth longest streak in Mets history, and longest since 2009 when Johan Santana went 21 starts. 14 of the starts have come since the start of the 2014 season. That ties him with Al Leiter who had 14 in 1998 and Jerry Koosman who did it in 1968.
David Wright seems to have all the woes of a slump in his rear view. He is currently sitting on a six-game hit streak where he has gone 10-for-23 with three doubles, two home runs, and five RBI. He has also recorded in each of his last five games which ties a season-high. The last time the Captain recorded an RBI in six or more games came in 2010 when he did it in seven games.
Curtis Granderson now sits at 30 consecutive starts reaching base safely which is a career high. His glorious month of June continues which sees him third in the National League on on base percentage and 14th in the league in batting average. He is currently third in the major leagues in walks this month with 15.
