RHP Matt Harvey (4-7, 5.37 ERA) vs. RHP Jose Fernandez (8-2, 2.53)
WPIX • WOR 710 AM • ESPN 1050 AM

The Mets took the most difficult path possible to bring themselves to a sweep opportunity today. Yesterday they lost Cespedes, Lagares and Cabrera, at various points in the game, to injury. Despite all that, and stranding tons of runners on base paths, the Mets came away with a thrilling comeback win, and possibly a signature win, thanks to James Loney, Matt Reynolds, Alejandro De Aza and others. This afternoon’s game is also the most anticipated game of the series as Matt Harvey and Jose Fernandez go head to head in a marquee matchup.

Note: Yoenis Cespedes (sore hip) is feeling better and can probably pinch-hit today, according to Terry Collins. On the other hand, Juan Lagares (bruised thumb) is still waiting to see the doctor. Additionally, due to short bench, Jacob deGrom, Steven Matz and Noah Syndergaard are potentially available to pinch hit.
