The Mets wrap up the west coast portion of their road trip Sunday in San Francisco. Yesterday they beat the Giants 5-2 behind another phenomenal start by Jacob deGrom and timely offense. Before they head into an off day and a series in Miami, they will have a chance at a sweep behind Rafael Montero.
New York has won two straight following its four-game losing streak. The Mets are 3-7 in their last 10 games and is 16-18 on the road. The club is 8-13 in its last 21 road games, including 2-4 on its season high-tying 10-game road trip. New York is 7-12 in day games this year.

Montero is 0-4 over 15 games and two starts this year pitching 26 1/3 innings with a 6.49 ERA, 4.28 FIP and 2.089 WHIP. It’s the WHIP that really speaks to the problems with Montero over the last two years. He is just allowing a ton of base runners.The Giants have the following numbers against Montero:

The Mets bats will try to keep the hits going against Matt Moore who is 3-7 over 85 innings and 15 starts while posting a 5.82 ERA, 4.50 FIP and 1.576 WHIP. In four starts in June this year, Moore has allowed 20 runs, 19 earned in 20 innings of work. He’s coming off his best start this month allowing three runs on seven hits and a walk in seven innings. Earlier this year, he faced the Mets allowing three runs on seven hits and a walk in 5 1/3 innings. The Mets have the following numbers against Matt:

Sunday marks the eighth time over the last 14 games the Mets have faced a left-handed starter. New York is 7-10 vs. left-handed starters this season.
The Mets have hit 42 home runs this month, the most the club has ever hit in the month of June. The previous record was 40 in June, 2006. The franchise mark for any calendar month is 45 home runs set in August, 2015 and matched in August, 2016.
Curtis Granderson is hitting .316 (18-for-57) with three doubles, one triple, five home runs, nine RBI and 11 runs scored in 21 games this month. He has a .437 on-base percentage in June.
Wilmer Flores is batting .324 (48-for-148) with five homers and 21 RBI since May 1 (44 games).
Yoenis Cespedes has hit five home runs and driven in 14 runs in eight games vs. San Francisco over the last two years.
Jay Bruce has seven home runs, 14 RBI and is hitting .313 (26-for-83) in June. Bruce’s seven home runs this month are tied for the fourth-most in the NL. (Cody Bellinger is first with 11). Overall, Bruce is tied for sixth in the NL and tied for 10th in the majors with 19 homers. He has 49 RBI, ranking 13th in the NL. Eleven players in team history have hit 20 or more home runs prior to the All-Star break (it’s happened 16 times). Yoenis Céspedes did it last year with 21 first-half homers.
