Bartolo, Colon

With their losing-streak at a season-high six games, the New York Mets will look to their veteran right-hander to stop the bleeding tonight against the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Field.

Bartolo Colon (9-5, 4.81) has been in these tough spots before and who better to get the job done. He will be opposed by fellow right-hander Jimmy Nelson (3-8, 4.64) for the Brewers in an 8:10 PM matchup.

The Mets have produced only eight runs during their 0-6 road trip.

There have been brighter days in Metsville. Close to game time yesterday, the Mets announced that Travis d’Arnaud would be heading to the DL and then the Mets lost a game 3-2 because they just couldn’t string a couple of hits together. Altogether, it feels like a different lifetime since the Mets were crushing it in April.

Bartolo Colon is 9-5 over 14.0 games and 86.0 innings with a 4.81 ERA. His first two starts in June were strong allowing 4 ER over 13.0 innings but he couldn’t repeat that in his latest start where he allowed 7 runs, 6 earned over 4.1 innings. He made a start against the Brewers this year and it wasn’t good as he allowed 6 runs, 5 earned over 5.0 innings. The Brewers have the following numbers against Colon:

  • Lind 6-19, 2B, HR
  • Gomez 2-9, 2B, 3B
  • Ramirez 4-9, 2B, HR
  • Gennett 0-4
  • Segura 1-4
  • Braun 1-3, HR
  • Lucroy 2-3
  • Parra 2-3, 2B, HR

The Mets bats will try to get something done against Jimmy Nelson. He’s 3-8 over 14 games and 83.1 innings with a 4.64 ERA. His June has been odd. In two starts he allowed 7 runs over 5.0 innings, had a shutout over 6.0 innings and allowed 3 ER over 5.0 innings. In one start against the Mets last year he allowed 2 ER over 7.0 innings. The Mets have the following numbers against Nelson:

  • Duda 1-4, HR
  • Lagares 0-3
  • Granderson 1-3, 2B
  • Tejada 0-2
