The New York Mets (7-7) start their last series of the road trip tonight in Atlanta against the Braves (4-11). The trip started off a week ago in Cleveland where the Mets took 2 of 3 then the Mets went into Philly and took 2 of 3 there as well. The Mets, who were below .500 after dropping multiple series at home, now find themselves at .500 heading into this series. The Mets have crushed 19 homers to start this road trip, and are hoping for that to continue down in Atlanta. Meanwhile the Braves were losers of ten straight, and have since won 4 games straight before losing last night.

The Mets have hit 19 home runs in their last six games, the most home runs over any six-game span in franchise history. Additionally, New York has hit back-to-back home runs in three straight games, the longest streak in team history according to Elias.

Matt Harvey gets the start tonight and he’s hoping to reverse his fortunes. He’s 0-3 on the season over 17.1 innings and as many starts with a 5.71 ERA while walking 7 and striking out 9. In his last start he was cruising with a no hitter for the first 4 innings before the Indians became aggressive and started just stringing together hit after hit. Oddly, he only faced the Braves once last year. He allowed only 1 ER over 6.2 innings while allowing one walk and 5 strikeouts. The Braves have the following numbers against Harvey:

  • Freeman 0-6
  • Stubbs 0-3
  • Flowers 0-3
  • Johnson 1-3
  • Markakis 0-3
  • Peterson 1-3, 2B

The Mets draw journey man starter Bud Norris who now finds himself in the Atlanta organization. His season has also been off to a rocky start going 1-2 over 17.1 innings while recording a 6.23 ERA. In that stretch he has allowed 22 hits, 12 earned runs, 7 walks while striking out 13. Between San Diego and Baltimore last year he went 3-11 over 38 games, 11 starts and 83.0 innings last year with a 6.72 ERA. He had a start against the Mets last year where he allowed 3 ER over 7.0 innings while picking up the loss. The Mets have the following numbers against Bud:

  • Walker 9-23, 2B, HR
  • Wright 1-11
  • De Aza 2-11,
  • Cespedes 3-10, HR
  • Duda 1-3, 2B
  • Cabrera 0-2
  • Flores 1-3, 2B
  • Plawecki 1-3, 2B

Let’s Go Mets!
