MMO Game Thread: Mets vs Astros, 1:05 PM - Jay Bruce Playing 1B

RHP Jacob deGrom will make his third start of Grapefruit League play this afternoon as the New York Mets travel to West Palm Beach to take on the Houston Astros. He will be opposed by RHP Lance McCullers Jr. in a 1:05 PM matchup. The game will be broadcast on WOR radio.

Also expected to pitch today for the Mets are RHP Marcos Molina, LHP Jerry Blevins, RHP Addison Reed, and LHP Tom Gorzelanny.

DeGrom has not allowed a run in 6.0 total innings this spring, and has struck out seven. In his last start against the Detroit Tigers he tossed 4.0 shutout innings, while allowing two hits and striking out four.

New York is 2-3 against the Astros in Grapefruit League action…Their last encounter was a split squad game in West Palm on March 10, which the Mets lost 7-6… After today’s game, the two teams will face o one more time, on March 24th, in Port St. Lucie.

Jay Bruce is making his first start of the spring at first base for the Mets as Curtis Granderson takes his place in right field. Bruce has been getting reps in practice and has said he’d be willing to play at first if the team needed him to.
