Notes

Mets left-hander Jason Vargas is set to undergo surgery on the hamate bone in his right-hand on Tuesday. Pitching coach Dave Eiland said he may or may not miss time at the beginning of the season.

“We may not have to adjust. We may, we may not. We don’t know yet,” he said. “Are we going to have somebody else lined up in that spot? Absolutely but it doesn’t mean Jason Vargas won’t be ready.”

After Steven Matz, Zack Wheeler, Jerry Blevins, AJ Ramos, Jeurys Familia and Anthony Swarzak are slated to pitch this afternoon.

Yoenis Cespedes is back in the lineup today playing left field. He had been sidelined with a sore wrist.
