Last night was a rough one for the Mets. Taijuan Walker gave the Mets a sparkling start while the Mets offense was just being the Mets offense. Then, in the 7th inning, Walker got in a bit of trouble with two runners on (assisted by some poor defense behind him) and Rojas took him out of the game. Walker clearly did not want to be removed. Loup, who has been great of late, came in and immediately allowed two runs to score. At that point the Mets were down 3-2 and despite having multiple opportunities to score later in the game, they couldn’t get it done.

So the Mets will turn to Carlos Carrasco to put them back on the right path. Carrasco has made five starts and pitched 16 1/3 innings with an 8.82 ERA, 5.68 FIP, 1.653 WHIP and a 46 ERA+. He’s coming off of a start against the Dodgers where he allowed three runs over five innings from three hits and a walk, it was his best start since August 4th and lowered his ERA down from 10.32. This will be Carrasco’s first start against the Giants this year. The Giants have the following career numbers against Carlos:

Alex Wood gets the start against the Mets tonight. Over 22 starts and 120.1 innings this year he has a 4.11 ERA, 3.64 FIP, 1.222 WHIP and a 101 ERA+. In his last two starts he has allowed 4 runs over 11 2/3 innings from 11 hits and three walks while striking out 15 batters. This is a tremendous improvement over the three starts before that. In those three starts he has allowed 14 runs, 13 earned, over 15 innings. This will be Wood’s first start against the Mets this season who have the following career numbers against him:
