RHP Junior Guerra (0-0, 3.12) vs. RHP Jacob deGrom (4-1, 3.23)
SNY • WOR 710 AM • 104.3 WAXQ-FM HD 2 • ESPN 1050 AM

The Mets and Brewers play game three of their four-game set tonight as the Mets look to make it three straight against the Brew Crew. If you missed yesterday’s game, to quote the SNY booth, Tyler Pill looked like prime Dillon Gee. At one point the Mets had a 4-1 lead, thanks to a two-run homer from Duda. Things fell apart as Blevins allowed a bases loaded walk and then Cabrera dropped a fly ball in the infield allowing two runs to score. We all know the one thing the Mets bullpen needs is more work and they got it as the game lasted through 12 until Bruce walked the Mets off.

Brewers Lineup:

  1. Eric Sogard – 2B
  2. Eric Thames – LF
  3. Jesus Aguilar – 1B
  4. Travis Shaw – 3B
  5. Hernan Perez – RF
  6. Manny Pina – C
  7. Keon Broxton – CF
  8. Orlando Arcia – SS
  9. Junior Guerra – RHP

Mets Lineup:

  1. Michael Conforto LF
  2. Asdrubal Cabrera SS
  3. Jay Bruce RF
  4. Neil Walker 2B
  5. Lucas Duda 1B
  6. Curtis Granderson CF
  7. Wilmer Flores 3B
  8. Rene Rivera C
  9. Jacob deGrom RHP

Jacob deGrom will look to give the bullpen some time off. On the season he is 4-1 over 10 starts and 64.0 innings with a 3.23 ERA, 3.14 FIP and 1.250 WHIP. He has returned to form in his last two starts going 2-0, allowing 10 hits and four walks with only one run in 15.1 innings of work while striking out 19. Before this streak, he faced the Brewers where he allowed eight hits and a walk over 6.0 innings leading to four runs. The Brewers have the following numbers against Jacob:

  • Perez 2-6, 2 2B
  • Shaw 1-5, BB
  • Villar 2-5, 2B, BB
  • Arcia 1-3
  • Broxton 1-4, HR
  • Thames 1-3, 2 K
  • Franklin 0-2

The Mets bats will take a crack at Junior Guerra who is 0-0 in his first two two starts of the season, pitching 8.2 innings allowing four hits and three walks leading to three runs (3.12 ERA, 5.33 FIP, 0.808 WHIP). His numbers seem a bit off because his first start on April 3rd lasted all of three innings before being removed due to an injury. Last week was his return to the majors where he allowed one run over 5.2 innings. Last season he went 9-3 over 20 starts and 121.2 innings for the Brewers with a 2.81 ERA, 3.70 FIP, 1.126 WHIP. In one start against the Mets last year he allowed five hits and three walks over 6.2 innings leading to one run. The Mets have the following numbers against Junior:

  • Bruce 0-3
  • Cabrera 0-3
  • Flores 1-3
  • Granderson 1-1, 2 BB
  • R Rivera 0-1

Game Notes:

The Mets have won seven straight home games vs. Milwaukee, the club’s second-longest current home winning streak (they have won 11 straight home games vs. Toronto).

Make sure you turn the game on at 7:10 because the only team with more first inning runs than the Mets with 44 are the Brewers with 48.

Jay Bruce‘s walk-off RBI in the 12th last night was the 10th in his career and his first as a Met.

Jacob deGrom is 17-11 with a 1.97 ERA during his career at Citi Field (42 starts). That ERA is the second-lowest in the Majors since 2014 (min. 250.0 home innings pitched) behind only Clayton Kershaw‘s 1.66 mark.

Let’s Go Mets!
