MMO Game Recap: Wheeler Deals Mets A 7-3 Win Over Dodgers

The New York Mets defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers by a score of 7-3to take the rubber game tonight at Chavez Ravine.

Pitching

Zack Wheeler was the starter tonight and continued his fine pitching. He set down the first 11 guys to face him before giving up a hit to Justin Turner and a home run to Max Muncy consecutively in the fourth inning. Wheeler’s velocity was great all night and even when he seemingly struggles in a game now, he is still really good. I think there is plenty of reasons why buying into this new version of him makes sense.

He quickly recovered to pitch a quick fifth and sixth innings. In the seventh, he gave up a homer to Cody Bellinger but managed to get out of the inning with nothing else. His final line was: 7 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 9 K.

Seth Lugo pitched a perfect eighth and ninth inning to seal the deal, and continues to do well from the bullpen.

Offense

Amed Rosario, Jeff McNeil, Wilmer Flores, Michael Conforto, Kevin Plawecki, and Brandon Nimmo all had multiple hit games. Good day for the youngsters.

Rosario’s numbers are slowly but surely creeping up and there is reason to believe in him. He was a top prospect in baseball for a reason after all.

In the fourth, Rosario singled and McNeil doubled. Wilmer Flores and Michael Conforto drove the two home and Austin Jackson drove home Wilmer Flores.

In the fifth, Plawecki doubled and Nimmo singled. Plawecki came home on a single by Rosario and Nimmo came home on a single by Flores.

In the sixth, Conforto, Plawecki, and Nimmo all got hits to load the bases for Zack Wheeler but he hit into a double play.

In the seventh, Rosario and McNeil both singled once again. Conforto drove home Rosario and McNeil came home on a wild pitch.
