The New York Mets were defeated by the Detroit Tigers by a score of 9-2 this afternoon at Joker Marchant Stadium.
Seth Lugo, who started in place of Jacob deGrom, pitched two scoreless frames allowing no hits and a walk while striking out two.
Robert Gsellman was hammered for three runs on three hits and three walks in two innings pitched. Hansel Robles fared no better, allowing two runs on three hits including a home run in one inning of work.
Super utility infielder Wilmer Flores is having a torrid Spring Training and that continued today, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and two runs scored. He’s batting .556 in nine Grapefruit League games.
Unfortunately for Flores, the four batters hitting ahead of him; Curtis Granderson, Neil Walker, Michael Conforto and Lucas Duda, went 0-12 with five strikeouts. Kevin Plawecki and Johnny Monell each had a pair of hits.
