The New York Mets lost to Tampa Bay Rays by a score of 8-4 on Sunday in Port Charlotte.

Pitching

Bartolo Colon (10.29 ERA) started for the Mets and was roughed up for five runs on seven hits and a walk in two innings of work while striking out three.

Hansel Robles allowed a run in the fourth inning and Matthew Bowman allowed a pair of solo home runs in the seventh inning.

Chase Bradford, Jon Velasquez, Jack Leathersich and Carlos Torres each pitched a scoreless inning.

Offense

Kirk Nieuwenhuis went 2-for-3 with an RBI to raise his batting average to .464, and Wilmer Fores had two more hits including his fourth double to raise his average to .462 this spring.

Catcher Johnny Monell also stayed hot homering for the second time this spring in the ninth. Matt den Dekker walked, singled and stole a base.

On Deck

The Mets hit the road again to play the Boston Red Sox in Fort Myers on Monday. Matt Harvey will make his third start of the Spring in 1:00 PM matchup.
