The Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals by a score of 12-7 tonight at Tradition Field.

Pitching:

Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and did not fare well, as the veteran righty was tagged for eight runs on nine hits, and yielded three home runs in the process.

Buddy Carlyle relieved Colon in the sixth inning, and allowed four runs on three hits in 0.2 innings.

After two poor performances, however, Zack Thornton, Jim Henderson, Addison Reed and Jeurys Familia combined to pitch 3.1 innings of scoreless ball.

Offense:

David Wright went 2-for-3 in his spring debut for the Mets including a run scored.

The Mets got on the board in the third inning adding a couple runs on the strength of a Juan Lagares home run, and an RBI double from Yoenis Cespedes.

T.J. Rivera added another run in the sixth inning with a solo shot.

Michael Conforto stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the ninth, and made the game somewhat interesting, cutting the deficit to 12-7 with a grand slam.

However, it would not prove to be enough as this game was over before it really even got started.

On deck:

The Mets are back in action tomorrow afternoon and will look to get some redemption against the Nationals at Space Coast Stadium.

Matt Harvey will get the start against Joe Ross, with the first pitch scheduled for 1:05 PM.
