The New York Mets (10-7) completed a sweep of the Atlanta Braves (4-14) and won the series finale by a score of 3-2 this Sunday afternoon.  The Mets completed their very successful road trip going 7-2 overall.

Pitching:

Welcome back Jacob deGrom!  It wasn’t exactly “deGromination” today but the Mets have got to be pleased with their co-ace’s performance.  Jake went five and two thirds and allowed one run, no walks, and three strikeouts on 82 pitches.  He was on a pitch count today and was pulled in the sixth just before reaching his 85-pitch limit.  Jake’s velocity lived around 92-93 MPH and maxed out at 94 on the day.

Jim Henderson’s number was called in the bottom of the sixth and he made quick work of Jace Peterson, striking him out on a 94 MPH fastball right down the pipe. deGrom had allowed a two out base runner on what really was an excellent effort by Wilmer Flores down the third base line.

Hansel Robles and Jerry Blevins made quick work of the Braves in the seventh and eighth.

Jeurys Familia would allow a run in the ninth and certainly made things interesting, but would ultimately shut the door for his fifth straight save.

Offense:

Curtis Granderson got things started right away in the first inning with a leadoff single against Braves top prospect Aaron BlairAsdrubal Cabrera followed with a single of his own putting runners on first and third with no out.  Michael Conforto would hit a sacrifice fly to get Granderson in to give the Mets the early one run lead.

In the top of the sixth inning, usual suspect Curtis Granderson would get things started once again with a one out walk.  Asdrubal Cabrera would single putting runners on first and third for his second time on the day.  Michael Conforto would then crush a ground rule double over the right fielder’s head to give the Mets a 2-1 lead.  Lucas Duda would bring the third run of the day in on a textbook sac fly.

That would be all for the Mets offense today as the bats remained relatively quiet.

Notes:

Yoenis Cespedes remained out with a thigh bruise.  Juan Lagares went 0 for 3 with a walk in his place. David Wright and Travis d’Arnaud both sat out with customary rest days.

On Deck:

The Mets head home to take on the Cincinnati Reds tomorrow night with a start time of 7:10 PM.  Noah Syndergaard (2-0, 0.90 ERA) looks to continue his early season dominance in what is quickly becoming must watch TV.  He will face Cincinnati Reds starter Raisel Iglesias (1-1, 3.09 ERA).
