The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals by a score of 13-4 on Saturday afternoon in Port St. Lucie. The Mets have scored 37 runs over their last three games.

Pitching

Tyler Pill started and tossed 2.1 scoreless innings allowing just a hit and a walk. Jeurys Familia, Jenrry Mejia, Akeel Morris and Scott Rice followed with 3.2 scoreless innings of relief.

The Nationals finally got on the board, touching Dillon Gee for two runs on three hits in an inning of work. The other two runs came off Erik Goeddel.

Offense

Juan Lagares doubled, tripled and scored two runs in the game. David Wright (3-run shot), Michael Cuddyer (solo shot) and John Mayberry Jr. (2-run shot) all homered and Kevin Plawecki hit a three-run double.

Tejada singled, drove in two including one on a sac fly today. Then Sandy Alderson said: “Gradually you come to the conclusion that Ruben Tejada is just a placeholder. He’s not a long-term guy for us.”

Lucas Duda made his Spring debut and singled in four at-bats.

On Deck

The Mets will hit the road to play the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday at 1:05 PM. Bartolo Colon will start for the Mets.
