The Mets (15-6) lost to the Marlins (9-12) by a score of 4-3 Tuesday night in Miami.

Pitching

Rafael Montero was very impressive for most of the game until the Marlins finally got to him in the 6th inning. His final line was 5.2 innings with 3 earned runs on 5 hits, 1 walk, and 6 strikeouts.

Buddy Carlyle faced one batter, inducing a fly-out off the bat of Ichiro Suzuki. Lefty Alex Torres pitched a perfect 7th inning, striking out the side in order, showcasing his outstanding change up.

Carlos Torres had minimal command over his pitches in the 8th inning. After walking two of the first three batters to face him, he gave up an RBI single to Michael Morse, giving the Marlins a 4-3 lead. He was charged with the loss.

Offense

Daniel Murphy continued to break out, going 3-4 with a double. Lucas Duda, Eric Campbell, Kirk Nieuwenhuis, and Anthony Recker each recorded base hits as well.

Curtis Granderson had 2 hits, one of which was a double, and one walk. He raised his average to .229 on the year.

Michael Cuddyer pinch hit in the 8th inning and grounded out to shortstop, as he continues his horrific slump.

Juan Lagares crushed the biggest hit of the game for the Mets, a 3-run double in the 7th inning to tie the game at 3. The double was tattooed to deep center field and most likely would have been a home run in most ballparks (including Citi Field), however with the immense dimensions at Marlins Park, it stayed in.

Notes

Juan Lagares is freaking awesome. He continues his hot hitting and, of course, exemplary defense.

It seems both Murphy and Granderson are starting to rise out of their slumps. With David Wright coming back sometime around this weekend, having all the hitters hot would be ideal to make his transition back smoother.

Alex Torres continues to impress out of the bullpen, being very effective against right hand hitters as well as lefties, due in part to his sparkling change up.

On Deck:

The Mets complete the three-game series at Miami on Wednesday at 7:10 PM. Bartolo Colon (4-0, 2.77) opposes Mat Latos (0-3, 7.31).
