The Mets (73-80) lost to the Miami Marlins (74-77) by a score of 4 to 3 this evening at Citi Field.

What you should know:

Dillon Gee had a rough start to the game as he allowed three runs through the first three innings, but eventually settled down and pitched 6.2 solid innings, allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out four and walking two.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth, Lucas Duda hit a two-run single to score Dillon Gee and Matt den Dekker. On the next play, Marcell Ozuna made a fantastic play in the outfield to rob Wilmer Flores of extra bases and conserve the Marlins lead.

The Mets got within a run in the bottom of the eighth as Curtis Granderson drove in Lucas Duda with a groundout to second base, however, the Mets would fall to the Marlins in the bottom of the ninth as Steve Cishek shut the door for Miami.

On deck:

The Mets travel to Atlanta next and open up a three game series against the Braves Friday night with Zack Wheeler (10-10, 3.61 ERA) taking on Julio Teheran (13-12, 2.89 ERA).
