The New York Mets were mauled by the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday afternoon by a score of 14-9 at Tradition Field. Randal Grichuk and Brandon Moss each hit two home runs and drove in four runs apiece.

Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and allowed four earned runs in 3.2 innings of work. Colon was tagged for six hits and a walk, but struck out two batters.

The bullpen provided little relief for the Mets except for Jim Henderson who continues to build his case for a spot on the Opening Day roster with yet another scoreless inning.

Gabriel Ynoa gave up three runs in an inning of work, while Stolmy Pimentel was awful, hitting two batters, and getting ripped for a double, two homers and four runs. Josh Smoker and Addison Reed both allowed a run each.

Pimentel was ejected from the game after hitting his second batter of the inning, both coming after a home run. Umpire Angel Hernandez never issued a warning, and nobody believes Pimentel intentionally tried to hit them.

Offensively the Mets did score nine runs, with the big hits coming from Juan Lagares who was on base twice and drove in two, and Kevin Plawecki who had a two run homer. Lucas Duda and Daniel Muno each had a pair of hits.

The Mets head to Jupiter on Sunday to play the Miami Marlins. Matt Harvey gets the start for the Mets in a 1:10 PM matinee.
