The Mets (36-35) were swept by the Atlanta Braves (35-35) today at Turner Field by a score of 1-0.

Well, Matt Harvey was brilliant again today, pitching 6.2 innings, allowing only one run on six hits, while striking out five and walking one. Unfortunately, the anemic Mets offense provided him no support, and he falls to 7-5 on the season.

The lone run for Atlanta came in the seventh inning, after Ryan Lavarnway doubled and scored on a single by pinch hitter Pedro Ciriaco.

The Mets could muster up a mere four hits, and didn’t pose much of a threat all game. Julio Teheran actually held the Mets hitless into the fifth inning when Wilmer Flores singled.

The Mets had two golden opportunities to tie the game in the eighth and ninth innings.

In the eighth, Eric Campbell doubled, but John Mayberry struck out as a pinch hitter.

Then in the ninth with Jason Grilli unavailable, the Braves turned to Jim Johnson who let up two singles to leadoff the inning. Lucas Duda then flied out to left, and Michael Cuddyer grounded out to end it. Ballgame.

Not really much to say on this one. The Mets offense was nowhere to be found, and you can’t win if you can’t score.

Unfortunately for Matt Harvey, he pitched his heart out again and got another hard luck loss. The story of his career.
