The Mets (7-10) were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays (13-4) by a score of 3-1 this afternoon at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium.
Pitching:
Bartolo Colon got the start for the Mets and turned in a great outing, tossing six scoreless innings, with only three hits allowed and striking out six.
Hansel Robles and Stolmy Pimentel pitched the seventh and eighth innings respectively, and kept the Blue Jays off the board before handing the ball over to Buddy Carlyle for the ninth.
With a 1-0 lead, Carlyle looked to close out the game, but winded up on the losing end, as he surrendered a walk-off three-run home run to Ezequiel Carrera.
Offense:
In the second inning, the Mets had a golden opportunity to score when Marc Krauss hit a triple with only one out, but wasn’t able to score as the next two batters were retired.
The lone run of the game for the Mets came in the top of the ninth, as Patrick Biondi hit a home run to right field.
Juan Lagares, Wilmer Flores and T.J. Rivera were the other Mets hitters to pick up a hit, as the rest of the lineup was mostly silent today.
On deck:
The Mets travel to Jet Blue Ballpark to take on the Boston Red Sox tomorrow afternoon. Logan Verrett will get the ball for the Mets and will be opposed by Joe Kelly. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 PM.
