mets fans crowd shot citi field

An MMO Fan Shot by Mr. North Jersey

Here’s some interesting data I compiled on Mets attendance at Citi Field this season.

The Mets had another packed house on Friday night, with the announced attendance at 38,459 for their series opener against the Bucs.

Since the Nationals series during the last homestand, Mets attendance has averaged 35K per game.

As it stands now, the Mets have the 3rd largest attendance total after 61 games in Citi Field history.

2009 – 2,351,786
2010 – 1,975,491
2015 – 1,859,217
2011 – 1,808,563
2012 – 1,732,273
2013 – 1,629,199
2014 – 1,613,221

They are currently averaging 30,479 per game, which you can see in the following chart.

At that rate and using the current average, the team will finish at just under 2.5M in attendance this year. About 100K under the 2nd largest total in Citi Field history 2,573,077 in 2010.

The best the team has ever averaged at Citi Field over the remaining 21 games was in its inaugural season 38,194.

It will be interesting to see if the Mets can maintain at least an average of 30,000 the remaining 21 games. If they can it will mark the 2nd best average in that stretch in Citi Field history.

What has been good to see in this run is that fans are getting into it and turning out to watch their 1st place Mets try and get back into the post-season.
