A Holiday Wish, a Fan Shot by Bill D’Angelo

Twas another night during the lock-out, when all thru’ the clubhouse,
the Front Office was stirring, even Steve Cohen and his spouse;

The depth chart was hung by the dugout with care,
In hopes that another starting pitcher soon would be there;

Potential moves were in all the assistant GM’s heads,
Some better ideas were posted in the MMO threads.

Steve in his quarter zip sweatshirt, Eppler in his Mets cap,
Some troll on MMO suggested Sandy Alderson was taking a nap.

No tweets on Twitter, there was no chatter,
No chance that the Mets had gotten another batter;

But away to the laptop anyway, I flew like a flash,
Was there was a new podcast from Keith and his mustache?

Maybe there was some Mets news, I wanted it to be so,
Could the Mets have decided that Baty was ready for the show?

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
Just another Youtube video with sleigh, and eight rein-deer.

But this sleigh driver looked like one who would not falter,
I knew in a moment it must be Buck Showalter.

With his enthusiasm and love for the game,
He whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:

Now Scherzer, now deGrom, now Alonso, and Lindor,
On Walker, on Lugo, on Marte and Escobar;

To the top of the division, to the top of the league.
Now dash away, dash away, it’s a Mets blitzkrieg!

Hey Manfed, Hey Clark, Get out of my way!
I’ll settle this myself. I’ve written a new CBA.

He sprung to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
Away they all flew, like the down of a thistle;

And I heard him exclaim, as he drove out of sight…
Happy Holidays to all, and to all a good night.

But I heard him say more, and not just to them,
It’s what we all needed to hear: LFGM.
