LHP Clayton Kershaw vs. LHP Shane McClanahan
FOX • ESPN Radio

The National League and American League All-Stars meet up tonight in Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles for the first time since 1980.

As for the Mets, the team has four All-Stars: Pete Alonso, Jeff McNeil, Starling Marte and Edwin Díaz.

McNeil is the only one starting, and Marte pulled himself out of the game to rest the groin he injured a couple of weeks ago. (That didn’t stop him from getting buddy-buddy with Juan Soto at the Home Run Derby on Monday. The two have known each other for years as they workout with the same trainer in the offseason.)

Alonso and Díaz should both appear in the game as they’re one of the premier players at their position.

Let’s look at who’s starting for the rest of the teams.

NL All-Stars Lineup

Clayton Kershaw gets the starting pitcher nod for the NL All-Stars. He’s the only reasonable choice (it’s his 15th season playing in LA) over Marlins starter Sandy Alcantara, who should appear immediately following Kershaw.

Brothers Willson Contreras and William Contreras bat back-to-back in the lineup, too.

AL All-Stars Lineup

Lefty Shane McClanahan starts for the AL team, a deserved choice after putting up a 1.71 ERA in the first half.

As for the lineup, a 1-6 of Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge Rafael Devers, Giancarlo Stanton and Byron Buxton is… threatening. And former Met Andres Gimenez gets a start at second base for the AL!
