Donaldson’s Not Getting Offers He Wants

A pair of reports on Tuesday suggest that Josh Donaldson is struggling to get teams involved in the bidding for him to reach his asking price.

According to Mark Bowman of MLB.com, league sources are skeptical that the Atlanta Braves are even in the ballpark of the top offer on the table for Donaldson.

In addition to that, Darren Wolfson of SKOR North Radio hears that the Minnesota Twins have not made an offer close to the four-year, $11o million deal the third baseman is asking for.

Donaldson, 34, had a phenomenal 2019 season in which he hit .259/.379/.521 with 37 home runs and 94 RBI to give himself a 132 wRC+ and 4.9 fWAR.

Dodgers Add Nelson

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced that the team has signed Jimmy Nelson. Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reported that the deal was for one year and worth $1 million with incentives that could make it worth over $3 million.

Castillo adds that there is a vesting mutual option in the deal that could bring the max value of the deal up to $12 million.

Nelson, 30, is coming off a rough season in which he dealt with a right elbow effusion and right shoulder injury that limited him to 10 appearances (three starts). In that span, he registered a 6.95 ERA, 5.80 FIP, and 1.909 WHIP with 10.6 K/9 as compared to 7.0 BB/9.

Orioles DFA’d Hanhold

The Baltimore Orioles made the signing of Jose Iglesias official and, with that, decided to DFA former Mets’ reliever Eric Hanhold.

In September, the Mets DFA’d Hanhold and he was claimed by the Orioles off waivers, but never made an appearance for them at the major league level. He’s only made three major league appearances, allowing two runs over 2 1/3 innings.

Hanhold was initially acquired by the Mets in 2017 as the player to be named later in the deal that sent Neil Walker to the Milwaukee Brewers.
