Astros Mulling Correa Trade

Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic reports that the Houston Astros are considering the idea of trading Carlos Correa this offseason with money issues looming.

Correa, 25, is coming off an injury-plagued season in which he only appeared in 75 games due to a fractured rib and back discomfort. The shortstop hit .279/.358/.568 with 21 homers and 59 RBI to give himself a 137 OPS+ in the games he did play.

Nationals Considering Bryant Trade

Jon Morosi of MLB.com reported on Tuesday that the Washington Nationals have spoken with the Chicago Cubs about a trade for Kris Bryant.

This would presumably only occur if the team were to fail to re-sign Anthony Rendon this offseason.

Bryant, 27, is coming off a season in which he hit .282/.382/.521 with 31 home runs and 77 RBI to give himself a 131 OPS+ for 2019.

Gausman Joins Giants

The San Francisco Giants signed right-hander Kevin Gausman as first reported by Mark W. Sanchez of KNBR. The deal is for one year and Gausman will make $9 million.

In 2019, the 28-year-old split his season between the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds where he saw a huge disparity in terms of his success.

With the Braves, Gausman struggled to the tune of a 6.19 ERA, 4.20 FIP, and 1.488 WHIP to go along with 9.6 K/9 as compared to 3.0 BB/9.

Once traded to the Reds, he pitched mostly out of the bullpen where he showed some promise. In 15 appearances (only one start), Gausman had a 4.03 ERA, 3.17 FIP, 1.164 WHIP with 11.7 K/9 as compared to 2.0 BB/9.

However, Giants’ manager Gabe Kapler has already said the team views Gausman as a starter.
