Minnesota Twins general manager Thad Levine appeared on Sirius XM Radio with Jim Duquette and Jim Bowden Sunday where he confirmed the team will be looking for significant upgrades on the pitching front.

Levine called Yu Darvish and Shohei Ohtani “priorities,” while also name dropping Jake Arrieta, Alex Cobb and Lance Lynn as well as several relief pitchers.

Contrary to earlier reports, former Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier plans to play in 2018, according to MLB.com‘s Ken Gurnick.

Ethier, 35, had his $17.5 million option for 2018 declined in favor of a $2.5 million buyout. He has played in just 16 and 22 games, respectively, over the last two seasons.

The Texas Rangers made one of the earliest moves of the offseason Sunday, inking pitcher Doug Fister to a one-year, $4 million deal according to Evan Drellich of NBC Sports Boston.

The 33-year-old went 5-9 with a 4.88 ERA in 18 games (15 started) over 90.1 innings this past season with the Boston Red Sox.

The Washington Nationals are not expected to re-sign outfielder Jayson Werth, according to Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post.

Werth, 38, hit just .226/.322/.393 with 10 homers and 29 RBI in 289 plate appearances in 2017. He has been a member of the Nationals since 2011.
