According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, the Minnesota Twins have signed former Houston Astros catcher Jason Castro. The deal is worth 3 years, $24.5 million per Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports

Castro, 29, hit .210/.307/.377 with 16 doubles, 11 home runs and 32 RBI in 113 games for the Astros in 2016. On the defensive side, he posted a positive dWAR (0.4) for the sixth straight season and was a good pitch framer in 2016.

Despite a possible need at the catcher position, the Mets never showed interest in Castro and seem willing to head into the season with Travis d’Arnaud as their primary backstop.

The remaining free agent catchers include Wilson Ramos, Matt Wieters and Nick Hundley.
