The Miami Marlins reached out to the New York Yankees to discuss their possible interest in star outfielder Giancarlo Stanton on Wednesday night according to Jon Heyman of Fan Rag Sports.

Heyman also reports that the Los Angeles Dodgers are in the mix for Stanton, who is from the LA area. According to multiple reports, the St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants have been the most aggressive in the pursuit of Stanton to this point.

The Minnesota Twins have voided the contract of international signee Jelfry Marte due to an vision issue identified in his physical according to Ben Badler of Baseball America. The Dominican shortstop originally signed for a $3 million bonus and was ranked as BA’s No. 13 prospect in the 2017 class.

Former Met Logan Verrett has signed with the NC Dinos of the KBO. The right-hander gets a one-year deal worth $800,000 with a $200,000 signing bonus.

Former Mets minor leaguer Kevin Canelon has signed a minor league deal with the Cincinatti Reds. He had a 2.97 ERA for the St. Lucie Mets in 2017.

The Texas Rangers acquired minor leaguer Hunter Cole from the Giants to complete the trade that sent reliever Sam Dyson to San Francisco in June.
