As per a team release, the Cincinnati Reds have hired Driveline Baseball founder Kyle Boddy as their director of pitching initiatives and pitching coordinator. With this, the Reds promoted Caleb Cotham to Major League assistant pitching coach and director of pitching.

Boddy will remain on board at Driveline, a training system developed in 2008 focused on improving pitchers’ velocity and command through biomechanics, data analysis, video tracking, etc., while working with the Reds. He will focus primarily on the organization’s minor league pitchers.

On Monday, Marc Carig of The Athletic reported that the Mets had “been among the teams to express interest in hiring [Boddy],” noting fruitless “talks” between the two parties during the season.

We’ll keep you posted as any new information becomes available.
