Alex Speier of the Boston Globe reports that the Boston Red Sox are currently considering trade offers for Mookie Betts from the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres.

It is noted in the article that both deals include combinations of big-league players and prospects. With the Padres, it is expected that the Red Sox would need to take back Wil Myers and at least part of the $60 million remaining on his contract.

Betts, 27, is set to make $27 million in 2020 before hitting free agency after the season. The goal of moving the outfielder would be to get the Red Sox under the luxury tax this year, but acquiring Myers as part of the package would be counterproductive in achieving that goal.

MLB Pipeline listed five prospects in each organization on their top 100 list on Saturday. Gavin Lux (second) and Mackenzie Gore (fifth) were the top ones for each team.

In 2019, Betts hit .295/.391/.524 with 29 home runs, 80 RBI, and 16 stolen bases to give himself a 135 wRC+ and 6.6 fWAR. Defensively, he registered 15 DRS and a 12.9 UZR while mostly playing right field.

His best season came in 2018 when he had an elite 10.4 fWAR and 185 wRC+.
