George A. King III of the New York Post reports that the Philadelphia Phillies have expressed interest in Dellin Betances and Austin Romine. Both played under the Phillies’ new manager, Joe Girardi, while with the Yankees.

Betances, 31, only made one appearance in 2019 as he dealt with a right shoulder impingement and partially torn left Achilles this season. In his career, the reliever has a 2.36 ERA, 2.31 FIP, and 1.043 WHIP with 14.6 K/9 as compared to 4.0 BB/9.

Romine, 31, appeared in 72 games for the Yankees in 2019 in which he hit .281/.310/.439 with eight home runs and 35 RBI to give himself a 97 OPS+.

Defensively, the catcher ranked 85th in all of baseball in FRAA (-2.5) and 87th in framing runs (-2.2) according to Baseball Prospectus.

The Mets are looking to sign relievers and a backup catcher so both players could be useful additions for the club.
