According to Matt Breen of the The Philadelphia Inquirer, Joe Girardi will receive a second interview for the Phillies managerial opening. Veteran managers Dusty Baker and Buck Showalter are the two other finalists to replace Gabe Kapler.
The second round of interviews are expected to take place in the next few days and a decision is expected to be finalized next week per Breen.
Joe Girardi has been front and center of the Mets managerial search as the certain fan favorite to replace Mickey Callaway. It’s been reported that the Mets have interviewed Luis Rojas, Eduardo Perez, Mike Bell, and Carlos Beltran. They are expected to interview Derek Shelton and Girardi as well.
Girardi also interviewed for eight hours with the Cubs last week for their manager opening.
