The Toronto Blue Jays have announced that they have selected the contract of Edwin Jackson. In a corresponding move, they have optioned Thomas Pallone to Triple-A and placed Matt Shoemaker to on the 60-day IL to make room for Jackson on both the 25 and 40-man rosters.

Jackson, 35, will start tonight for the Blue Jays against the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park. This is very notable because of the fact that when Jackson steps on the mound tonight, he will be pitching for an MLB-record 14th franchise.

In his career so far, the right-handed starter/reliever has pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Tampa Bay Rays, Detroit Tigers, Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago White Sox, St. Louis Cardinals, Washington Nationals, Chicago Cubs, Atlanta Braves, Miami Marlins, San Diego Padres, Baltimore Orioles, and Oakland Athletics.

So, just for clarifications on the divisions he’s pitched in before his start on Wednesday night, he’s been on three NL West teams, two NL central team, three NL East teams, two AL East teams, two AL central team, and one AL West team.

The 16-year veteran journeyman is 104-123 for his career with a 4.60 ERA, 4.36 FIP, and 1.446 WHIP with 1,456 strikeouts in 394 appearances which included 305 starts and 1,892 1/3 innings pitched.

On May 11, the Blue Jays acquired him from the Oakland Athletics as he had an opt-out in his minor league deal with the team that he appeared likely to exercise before the end of the month.
