The San Diego Padres have signed left-handed reliever Drew Pomeranz according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
Robert Murray of The Athletic reports that the deal is four-years, at $8-9 million per season.
Pomeranz, 31, excelled out of the bullpen for the Brewers in their playoff run in 2019. He had a 2.39 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, and a whopping 45 strikeouts in 26 1/3 innings. He allowed only 16 hits and eight walks in that span.
The veteran left-hander struggled as a starter for the Giants to start the season with a 5.68 ERA in 77 2/3 innings.
Pomeranz was arguably the best reliever left on the market that has already seen Will Smith and Chris Martin sign with the Braves.
Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen noted earlier in the offseason that the Mets would look to upgrade on a bullpen that was their Achilles heel in 2019. Right-handers Will Harris, Sergio Romo, Brandon Kintzler, Daniel Hudson, Dellin Betances, and Steve Cishek are among the relievers still on free agent market.
