Some big news coming out of Arizona as the Diamondbacks announced that they have fired GM Dave Stewart and manager Chip Hale.
Stewart was responsible for one of the worst trades in recent memory, sending their overall No. 1 pick in 2015, shortstop Dansby Swanson, plus pitching prospect Aaron Blair and outfielder Ender Inciarte to the Atlanta Braves for RHP Shelby Miller.
While all three players the Braves received figure prominently in the clubs future, Miller proved to be a colossal flop, finishing 3-12 with a 6.15 ERA this season which included a demotion to Triple-A.

Also making news, the Colorado Rockies announced that Walt Weiss had stepped down as the club’s manager. Reportedly, Weiss and general manager Jeff Bridich had a less than productive relationship and Weiss was excluded from some key decisions during the final weeks of the season.
It didn’t take the Chicago Whites Sox long to name a replacement after manager Robin Ventura tendered his resignation on Sunday. The team announced that Rick Renteria will take over the reins as White Sox manager. You may recall that Renteria was fired by the Cubs in 2014 after they hired Joe Maddon, formerly of the Tampa Bay Rays.

And finally, an MMO tip of the cap to legendary Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully, who ended his career of 65+ years in baseball with a touch of class on Sunday. In the final broadcast of his career, Scully signed off by saying:
“You and I have been friends for a long time, but I know in my heart I’ve always needed you more than you’ve ever needed me. And I’ll miss our time together more than I can say.”
Thanks for all the memories, Vin. I’ll miss you too.
