Phillies outfielder and former MVP Andrew McCutchen will not play again this season, as he has a torn ACL. He suffered the left knee injury during a rundown.

Cutch, 32, was having a solid season before suffering this injury. He had been hitting .256/.378/.457 with 10 home runs, 29 RBIs, and a 124 wRC+. He had been playing an outstanding left field with 5 DRS and 2.5 UZR on the young season.

While the Phillies have enjoyed that great defense, they are now planning on using recently acquired Jay Bruce in left field with Scott Kingery in center and Bryce Harper in right. Bruce had been hitting .214/.283/.530 with 14 home runs, 28 RBIs, and a 114 wRC+. He was mostly serving as the designated hitter for the Mariners, but has logged a few innings at first base and both corner outfield positions.

McCutchen faces a long rehab but could very well be ready for the start of next season. In the meantime, the Phillies face a tough challenge replacing both his bat and his glove in the lineup.
