Every Mets affiliate struggled on Tuesday and Binghamton had the day off. Luisangel Acuña continued his torrid May with a stolen base and a home run and Nick Morabito has continued to impress in Brooklyn.

Despite an attempt at a ninth-inning rally, the Syracuse Mets could not overcome an early deficit. Acuña is hitting .390/.435/.561, with four doubles, one home run and four stolen bases in his last 10 games.

  • LHP Joey Lucchesi (4.41)  6 IP, 6 ER, 9 H, BB, 3 K 3 HR allowed (55 of 87 pitches for strikes)
  • RHP Ty Adcock (6.75) 1 IP, 1 H
  • RHP Max Kranick (3.86) 2 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, BB, K

Joey Lucchesi struggled on Tuesday, allowing six runs on nine hits including three home runs. With the success of Tylor Megill and the return of David Peterson to the MLB rotation on Wednesday, Lucchesi seems to be sliding further down the New York Mets depth chart.

The Cyclones offense on Tuesday was named Nick Morabito. Wilfredo Lara continues to struggle for the Cyclones, with an 0-for-3 day dropping his OPS to .538.

Kade Morris had a decent, if not good start. The Cyclones were ultimately let down by their bullpen allowing a run each in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings.

Jesus Baez has been a big surprise for the entire season after a poor 2023 season. He is showing a strong power/speed combo and has been playing solid defense at third base.

Ernesto Mercedes has been hit hard in his last two outings but did manage to limit the walks on Tuesday.

Juan Arnaud continues his strong season, striking out five batters in his 2 1/3 innings pitched today. Arnaud has struck out 22 batters in 14 innings, but has walked ten.

BOX SCORE

Jeremy Rodriguez is determined to make his time in the FCL a brief one, raising his OPS to .941 with a three-hit day.

The last time I wrote a recap, which was last Tuesday – A.J. Ewing hit his second home run. On Tuesday, he hit his third home run. I fully expect next Tuesday, he will hit his fourth.

Daviel Hurtado had his first appearance in the Mets organization and it was a good, albeit brief one. The Mets signed the 19-year-old Hurtado to a $640 K signing bonus back in 2023. He features a mid-90s fastball and a curveball.
