The Las Vegas 51’s lost their second game of the season to Fresno 8-4 and Matt Bowman only lasted 4.2 innings. Bowman was hit hard giving up 2 HR’s and 8 hits but did manage to strikeout 8 batters. Bowman really struggled in the 3rd inning when he gave up 5 runs but seemed to be focused on working in his breaking ball. Probably the best news of the night for Vegas was Jack Leathersich‘s walk-less inning with 2 strikeouts. Eric Campbell once again led the 51’s offense going 3-4 with a 2B, R, RBI and Brandon Allen was 2-5 with a RBI triple. Dilson Herrera, Matt Reynolds, Kevin Plawecki are all still looking for their first hit of the season. Gameday

Rainy Lara provided the biggest surprise of the night as he dominated the RubberDucks through 6.2 only allowing 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5. Lara had good fastball control and a sharp slider that he was painting the outside corner with all night. Dario Alvarez followed him up with a scoreless 1.1 innings with a strikeout against a lefty hitter. He also picked off the only baserunner he allowed(HBP) and stranded his inherited runner. The B-Mets could only muster 4 hits and the lone run scored on a RBI groundout by Jared King. Brandon Nimmo and Gavin Cecchini combined to go 0-7 while Jayce Boyd was 1-4 in the DH spot.

St. Lucie improves to 2-0 after a 6-1 win against Bradenton on the shoulders of a great outing by Kevin McGowan. McGowan gave up only an unearned run over 6.1 with 4 strikeouts and allowing only 5 hitters to reach. Maikis De La Cruz and catcher Colton Plaia provided most of the offense as they both hit 2-run homers.
