Sacramento 4, Las Vegas 3

Matthew Bowman struggled in his second start of the season as the Las Vegas 51’s fell to Sacramento 4-3 last night. Bowman pitched 5.1 innings giving up four runs on six hits and one walk while striking out three. Bowman struggled against lefties who had 4 of the 6 hits against him including a 2-run homer. Scott Rice relieved Bowman with two runners on and walked two batters allowing an inherited runner score. Chasen Bradford pitched 1.1 scoreless to stay unscored upon in 4.1 this year and Zack Thornton pitched a perfect 8th inning with two strikeouts. Despite the loss Las Vegas outhit the River Cats 11-7 with Dilson Herrera, Matt Reynolds, and Kevin Plawecki each collecting two hits. Danny Muno was 1-2 with two walks, RBI, R, and his second stolen base of the season out of the leadoff spot and 3rd base. Las Vegas will take on Sacramento in the final of the series at 10:05 ET with Darin Gorski on the mound.

Erie 5, Binghamton 1

Binghamton lost to Erie 5-1 yesterday as Matt Koch took the loss allowing five runs in 4.2 innings. Domingo Tapia pitched in relief and walked 4 of the 5 hitters he faced in only his second appearance, the first he gave up five runs in 0.2 of an inning. The Mets did collect 9 hits on the evening but were 1-9 with runners in scoring position, the one hit coming from Gavin Cecchini (1-4, RBI). Jayce Boyd was 2-4  with a 2B as he continues to play LF and committed his first error of the season. Brandon Nimmo was 1-3 with a walk and his first outfield assist throwing out a runner at home. Nimmo has a hit in four straight games now but still doesn’t have a hit with runners on going 0-10 in those situations. Box Score. St. Lucie 9, Brevard County 3

St. Lucie exploded for 8 runs in the bottom of the second with half of them coming from a Michael Conforto crush to left center field with the bases loaded. The Mets went on to win 9-3 to improve to 4-3 on the season. Michael also walked twice as the Mets walked nine times as team versus only three strikeouts. Champ Stuart continues to impress with a 2-2 night with three walks and scored on Conforto’s grand slam. Amed Rosario was 2-5 with an RBI and Jhoan Urena was 1-4 with a 2-run double in the 8 run 2nd. Robert Gsellman got his 2nd win of the season with his strong outing throwing five innings on one run ball striking out seven hitters. Akeel Morris has started this season right where he left off last year pitching two scoreless innings last night with four strikeouts. He has yet to allow a base hit in four innings of work while collecting six strikeouts. This was the Second Annual Jackie Robinson Celebration Game played in Dodgertown. Box Score

Savannah vs Rome PPD

Savannah was supposed to play Rome but the game was postponed due to rain. The Sand Gnats will have their home opener today against Charleston with Corey Oswalt on the mound.
