Mets fans, this is the third injury article I’m writing and Spring Training isn’t even over yet.

First there was Seth Lugo and his pinky toe. Then there was J.D. Davis and his shoulder. Then there was Brandon Nimmo and his heart. Now there is Michael Conforto and his side.

According to Newsday’s Tim Healey, Conforto tweaked his side while making a catch in right field during Monday’s game. He got an MRI in Florida and whereas we do not know what that showed, we do know that he is being sent back to New York to meet  with the Met’s medical director, Dr. David Altchek.

This news came hours after Monday’s game finished.

Hopefully, Conforto’s injuries follows the rest that have happened so far this Spring Training and is minor.

In 2019, Conforto hit .257/.363/.494, which was an improvement from his 2018 line (.243/.350/.448). He also improved his strikeout rate, bringing it down to 23% and held a 13% walk rate.

And let’s not forget how great he has been defensively, especially in the corners. It will be a loss for the Mets if this is serious.

I still believe that the 2020 season can be Conforto’s “silence the haters” season, as long as he is back asap and stays healthy.
