New York Mets outfielder Michael Conforto is not in the starting lineup for the fourth game on Thursday night with stiffness in his back.

Alderson told reporters on Wednesday that the back issue has been in the oblique vicinity.

Conforto struck out as a pinch hitter in the Mets 9-4 win over the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday and before the game said he felt much better. The Mets are facing a left-hander starter for the third straight game.

The 24-year-old Conforto is hitting .292/.410/.589 with 13 doubles, 14 home runs and 36 RBI in 58 games for the Mets this season.

The back issue first came up on Monday when he was scratched from the lineup.
