So Murphy and Reyes hit the DL last week – but as a fellow writer stated, this DL stint, if not a serious injury for Reyes, could do a number on his value in the offseason. It could help the Mets retain our star SS for the fturue, but it did make me question how long those legs are going to last.
My choice for MetsMerized Player Of The Week is…Jason Bay!

Wow, I’ve been waiting a long time to be able to give Bay the award. He finally put together a respectable week, and it’s a good time too because we are going to need someone to step up offensively for the next two weeks or so. If Bay is able to find his old form someway or somehow, our lineup is just that much better next year.
Bay had a .444/.545/.833 slash line last week with 8 hits in 18 ABs three of those going for XBH (2B, 2 HR). He drove in 4 runs, walked 4 times, stole a base, and scored six times.
If the Mets do manage to resign Reyes next year, imagine the damage our offense could do if Bay returns even halfway to form. I’m not even asking for the numbers he used to put up – I’d take 15 HRs and 60-70 RBI at this point. But for now, congrats to Bay!

Justin Turner: .286/.348/.619 (6 – 21 ; 2B, 2 HR), 4 RBI, BB, 4 R.

Closing in on 300 saves for Izzy. (298)
We saw a little HR power last week, but I miss Ike Davis.
Gee had 2 hits last week and is actually batting .143 which isn’t horrible for a pitcher.
Duda is still looking comfortable at the plate.
This is the second consecutive decent week for Jason Bay. I hope it becomes a trend.
Finally, Alex68 called Pelfrey last week and was incorrect. I give him credit for trying to put some hope in Pelfrey.
Have a good week guys!
