Despite the news from Thursday night that Matt Harvey will miss several weeks with an injury to his right shoulder, New York Mets GM Sandy Alderson said they will stick with a six-man rotation for the time being.

With Harvey out, the current rotation looks like Steven Matz, Seth Lugo, Jacob deGrom, Zack Wheeler and Robert Gsellman. The two candidates to join those five to keep it at six are righties Tyler Pill and Rafael Montero.

The six-man rotation is likely to stay for at least one more turn, however Alderson did not confirm that. Alderson also added that there is no search underway for an external option for the rotation.

Montero pitched three perfect innings in the Mets 8-3 loss on Thursday night to the Washington Nationals.

Pill pitched seven innings allowing only two runs for the Las Vegas 51s on Thursday night in their 12-4 win. Both Montero and Pill would be lined up to pitch on regular rest against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night.
