A storm up in the North East is rearing its ugly side and wreaking havoc on a lot of the upper Northeast, including Citi Field and the Mets. As a result of the severe weather in the area, Monday night’s originally scheduled series-opening game between the Mets and Cardinals has been postponed. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Tuesday, May 17 beginning at 3:10 p.m.

Monday’s pitchers were originally scheduled to be right-handed pitcher Trevor Williams (0-2, 5.73 ERA) starting for the Mets against right-handed pitcher Miles Mikolas (3-1, 1.49 EA) on the mound for the Cardinals. With Monday’s game being postponed, the Mets are now tentatively planning to throw Williams in game one and Taijuan Walker in game two, per MLB.com‘s Anthony DiComo.

Steven Matz is scheduled to pitch on Tuesday, as well, on top of Mikolas.

This series also brings with it high anticipation of the first rematch between the Mets and Cardinals since the two teams broke out into a brawl during their series last April as a result of multiple Mets being hit by pitches.

Gates for Tuesday’s doubleheader will open at 2:10 p.m. for Game 1 and Game 2 will begin 30-40 minutes following the conclusion of Game 1. The team says fans will get a voucher for Monday’s game redeemable at a future date (sans a couple specific dates like the Subway Series and Old Timers’ Day).
