Another of the New York Mets’ high-level pitching prospects was shipped off on Sunday, as the team sent right-hander Tyler Bashlor to the Pittsburgh Pirates for cash considerations.

Bashlor, 27, was designated for assignment on July 28 to make room for left-handed starter David Peterson on the Mets’ 40-man roster.

Over five minor league seasons, the Savannah, Georgia product pitched to a 3.31 ERA with 242 strikeouts and 95 walks over 182 innings pitched (all relief appearances).

During his time with the big club, Bashlor has struggled, putting up a 5.33 ERA over 48 appearances (45 strikeouts, 29 walks, 54 innings).

There were facets of his profile that encouraged (his four-seam fastball and slider, in particular), but command issues plagued Bashlor during his time with the Mets.

We’ll keep you posted with new information as it breaks.
