– UPDATE –

Well Mets fans, we finally have some good news on the injury-front!

Following Tuesday night’s series opening win over the Braves, Taijuan Walker went for an MRI on his left side. Pregame Tuesday evening, Luis Rojas announced that the MRI came back clean and Walker was feeling great today.

However, Rojas said right now it is too soon to commit to Walker making his next scheduled start in the rotation, and the team will take this on a day-to-day basis.

“He has great communication skills, he came to my office and told me what he felt. We all trust him of course, and the MRI results are there. So now we’re gonna see what we can check out with the video to help maybe fix some things so he doesn’t get this tightness throughout an outing again,” Rojas said.

For now, it seems as if the Mets may’ve finally dodged a big-time bullet on the injury-front.

Another day, another injury.

The New York Mets have been hit hard with the injury bug lately, and this trend continued on Monday night against the Atlanta Braves as starting pitcher Taijuan Walker exited the game with left side tightness.

Walker tossed three scoreless innings, but was unable to swing a bat, and his velocity was noticeably down during his outing. He showed discomfort on the mound in the third, but was able to finish out the inning.

However, this forced the Mets to get Sean Reid-Foley up in the bullpen. And as a result, Walker’s night was done after just 33 pitches as Reid-Foley entered for him to start the fourth. Walker is the latest Met to go down with an injury, and third in the last 24 hours after Michael Conforto and Jeff McNeil hit the injured list with hamstring injuries.

The Mets’ I.L. has become quite lengthy and includes Conforto, McNeil, J.D. Davis, Brandon Nimmo and Jacob deGrom, among others.

With Tuesday’s starter yet to be announced, the Mets could be looking for another arm to replace Walker if he is forced to miss an extended period of time.

Right now, it seems like the Mets have been losing a key player to injury almost every time they step on the field.
