Jon Heyman of FanCred reports that the Mets are still looking to acquire an outfielder even after signing Wilson Ramos to a two-year, $19 million contract with an option for the 2021 season.
The Mets still like A.J. Pollock to fill that void in the outfield, but Heyman reports that the team is also looking at a couple of “mystery options” as well.
Pollock, 31, hit .257/.316/.484 with 21 home runs and 65 RBI to give himself a 110 wRC+ in 2018. He also recorded six defensive runs saved and a -0.7 UZR in center field to give himself a 2.5 fWAR.
Earlier in the offseason, Heyman predicted Pollock would receive a three-year, $45 million contract. At the moment, the only known suitors of the center fielder are the Mets and the Cincinnati Reds.
The team is also looking to acquire a left-handed reliever before the end of the offseason, but will look to fill their center field spot first. Juan Lagares would be the Opening Day centerfielder if they failed to acquire one before then.
